Hi! My name is Vanessa Filippelli, new mom, food and fitness enthusiast.  I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, graduating with Honours from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I hold a degree in Kinesiology, as well as practicing as a Registered Dental Hygienist, specializing in paediatric dentistry. My goal as a nutritionist is to treat the person as a whole, using a combination of nutrition and lifestyle adjustments to help clients discover the power of food and its abilities to heal the body to improve quality of health and life.

My passion for nutrition is nothing new. Healthy eating habits and the importance of whole, natural foods was instilled in me as a child. Having grown up in a traditional Italian home, the Mediterranean diet and home remedies were the norm in our home.  Naturally there was no lack of "junk food" and "homemade sweets" - in moderation of course!

It wasn't until I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis that I decided to turn my passion into a career. While undergoing treatment, I realized how powerful and versatile food can be, and used this knowledge as a stepping stone to repair and restore myself back to health.

My early interest in health and wellness, together with my diagnosis, has led me to where I find myself today. My stream of study, both in Kinesiology and Health Sciences, as well as my career in dental hygiene, has allowed me to apply my knowledge of human anatomy to the important role food and exercise play in achieving a healthy lifestyle. Along with nutrition, fitness and sport has been a large part of my life, most recently with my newfound love of CrossFit. Being involved with the Crossfit community for the past four years has allowed me to assist fellow athletes achieve their own fitness and nutrition goals, with optimal nutrition being crucial to one's performance.
